Beaches
The city offers a host of Beaches allowing travelers to simply lie on the sand and soak up the sun. The Gentofte beaches are particularly popular in the summer when the sun is out in the sky and shinning. Travelers who are inclined to sailing, taking a swim or kayaking will highly enjoy the beaches. Beach games like volley ball are particularly popular in the beaches. Stylish houses line up overlooking the beach offering an added backdrop to take in. The beaches are freely accessible to tourists on a daily basis throughout the day.
Danmarks akvarkium
Danmarks akvarkium are the city’s aquarium located to the city’s north in Gentofte. The family attraction has its roots in the 1930′s and is the largest in the country. A total of 70 aquariums offering a vast view of fresh and marine water fish are what to expect when visiting the aquarium. Look out for sharks and the giant turtles, which are highly popular in the aquariums. Feeding demonstrations take place regularly at the aquarium. While at the aquarium, refreshments can be acquired from Danmarks akvarium cafe. The cafe over offers views of the forest areas and beach. The aquarium is accessible from November going into January on a daily basis from 10a.m to 4p.m. The opening and closing hours differ in the months of February going through to April with the aquarium opening at 10a.m and closing at 6p.m. In the months of October and September, the aquarium opens at 10a.m and closes at 5p.m. A charge is administered for access to the aquarium. Children under eleven receive an entry discount while those under three are allowed entry for free.
Copenhagen’s harbor
Copenhagen’s harbor has been used over centuries and decades as the country’s main commercial port. Boat trips and canal tours are popular tourist activities along the harbor. The Amalienborg and Christiansborg castles are can be viewed while taking the boat or canal tours. The Frihaven and Nyhavn docks are important historic places on the harbor dating back to the seventeenth century. The two docks give a direct access into the city. A number of restaurants and shops can be found along the harbor. The harbor is freely accessible to tourists daily and is open throughout the day.
Copenhagen zoo
The Copenhagen zoo dates back to 150 years in the past. The zoo houses more than 3000 animals made up of 250 species. Expect to see gigantic elephants, cheeky monkeys, cute penguins, frightening bears, camels, zebras and rhinos while visiting the zoo. A petting zoo is available and is popular with children. The zoo is open in December, November, February and January from 9a.m to 4p.m daily. In March the zoo opens from 9a.m to 4p.m on Mondays through to Fridays and from 9a.m to 5p.m on Saturdays and Sundays. From June through to August, the zoo opens from 9a.m to 6p.m daily and in October from 9a.m to 5p.m daily.
Amusement park
The city’s amusement park; Trivoli offers fast rides and other fun attractions. Built in 1914, a number of bars and restaurants can be found within the amusement park. The amusement park is open from April through to September and in December and November. A charge is administered for entry with families and children receiving discounts.
Planetarium
The city’s planetarium, Tycho Brahe, offers an exquisite waterfront view. The planetarium’s spectacular design and sloping roof makes it highly distinguishable. An IMAX theater is hosted within the planetarium and tourists can expect to enjoy regular shows featuring stars. The planetarium is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9.301.m. to 9p.m and Wednesdays to Sundays from 9.45a.m to 9p.m. A charge is administered for entry. Children receive discounts.
